2 Killed, 6 Hurt in ‘Strafing’

This was how Cadiznons here describe the killing of two residents, including a minor girl, and wounding of 6 others when strafed by Army soldiers who are members of Charlie Company of the 62nd Infantry Battalion at Tabanao-Banquerohan Bridge, Barangay Banquerohan, this city, at about 4:15 a.m. yesterday.

10 Houses burn in Cadiz; 14 families affected

Ten houses were totally burned down, while another was partially damaged in a fire at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in Purok Tangigue, Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Arson investigator of Cadiz Bureau of Fire Protection said that the fire started in the house of couple Jonel and Cecil Santillan, whose house was only partially damaged.

The fire was caused by a butane gas stove, it was pointed out.

Laborer Hit by Delivery Van in Cadiz

A construction worker was killed when his driven motorcycle bumped into the rear portion of a Fuso closed van along Villena Street, Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City around 11:17 p.m. Monday.

Police identified the victim as Jonemar Benaguas Arcolas, 28, single, of Bangga Ruby, Andrea Village, Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz.

He sustained head and body injuries after his motorcycle bumped the vehicle and was overran by the rear tire of the vehicle. His motorcycle was a total wreck.

He was brought to Cadiz District Hospital but declared dead on arrival by attending physician.

Minister’s Brod Stabbed Dead

The brother of a church minister was stabbed dead around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the back of Cadiz City Hall along Jones-San Juan Streets, Barangay Zone 4.

Cadiz PNP Chief Inspector Rocky Desear identified the victim as Abener Ore, 61, of Juan Luna Street, Barangay Zone 4.

He sustained six stab wounds on his chest, stomach, neck and back portion of body from yet unidentified suspect who fled after the incident.

He was rushed to Cadiz District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Ritzie Marie Salado.
