Sipalaynon boy loses finger to firecrackers

A total of 19 firecracker-related injuries, with one amputation involving a teenage boy in Sipalay City, were reported by the Department of Health’s (DOH) Epidemiology Bureau yesterday.

This brought to 61 the total number of injuries recorded since Dec. 21, the bureau said in its Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction 2017 Report 7.

“This is 98 (62 percent) cases lower than the five-year (2012-2016) average and 47 (44 percent) cases lower than the same time period last year,” read the report.

Couple nabbed for concubinage, bigamy

A couple were arrested by police for concubinage and bigamy in Sipalay City.

Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas; Sipalay OIC police chief identified the suspects as Al John Garcia Montaño and Grace Luntaga Quintab, both of legal age , residents of Sipalay.

Judge Wenie Espinosa of the Municipal Trial Circuit Court in Sipalay issued an arrest warrant against the two for the crime of concubinage dated July 4, 2017.

The court recommended P12, 000 bail bond for each of them.

Driver shot dead in Sipalay

A driver of ambulant vendors was shot dead by three unidentified men around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday in Sitio Cambogui-ot, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City.

Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay OIC police chief identified the victims as Jonel Carbadilla Villarosa, 37, married, of Purok Malipayon, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body and died on the spot.

50 SGs Occupy Sipalay Mine Site; Scrappers Arrested

About 50 security guards evicted from a mining company has intruded the G Holding Incorporated compound at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, located in Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

The intruders, in civilian attire and unarmed members of Radiant Security Agency previously assigned in the G Holding Incorporated mining arrived at Post No. 2 of the mine site.

Drunken Laborer Overran by Bus

A drunken laborer was overran by a Ceres bus around 10:20 p.m. Thursday at the National Highway in Sitio Campisang, Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay City PNP chief identified the victim as Jericho Occeña Capanas, 51, married, of Sitio Cabugan, Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay City.

The victim was in the middle of the road kneeling due to drunkenness and shirtless when he was overran.

He sustained injuries in the body and was rushed to Sipalay City Infirmary Clinic for treatment.
