The 20-year old beauty exhuded confidence and poise during the final interview hosted by JM Rodriguez and Agnes Chang. The question was "If you are to choose an image or a picture that best describes what life is in Bacolod City, what would it be and why?"
Velasco answered, "The image that I would choose is simple that is the painting or a picture of a smile which shows the happiness of the people of Bacolod because despite of hardships they are able to survive through the rest of their lives. Thank you."
The whole Tourism Strip covering 5th St. to 22nd St. along Lacson St. will turn into one giant street party starting tonight (Oct. 19) until Sunday (Oct. 22) for the 6th edition of the Electric MassKara, one of the highlights of the 33rd MassKara Festival.
Two floats of Majica MassKara, three floats of schools and two floats of corporations and more than 20 giant MassKara puppets, will converge at the Tourism Strip tonight at 9 p.m.
Bacolod City is all set in hosting the 50th meeting of the national executive board (NEB) of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), wherein Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia is vice chair for Visayas. At the meeting of several Negros Occidental city mayors yesterday with LCP executive director Yvonne delos Reyes, it was learned that today is the arrival of the mayors. From the Silay City airport, they will proceed to L Fisher Hotel for billeting, then to the new government center, where they will be hosted with a welcome dinner. From the NGC, the visiting mayors will be back at L Fisher Hotel where they will watch the electric masskara presentation at the tourism strip.

Actor Derek Ramsay will lead six of the biggest stars of TV 5 Network in a show dubbed, "TV 5 Night Sugod Mga Kapatid," at the Bacolod public plaza from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Ramsay will be accompanied by JC De Vera, Nadine Samonte, Arnel Ignacio, Tuesday Vargas and Arci Muñoz.
A hundred badminton players from Manila, Negros Occidental and other parts of Western Visayas will compete in the 2012 MassKara Badminton Invitational tournament on Saturday and Sunday, October 21 to 22 at Pohang Badminton Center at the back of Riverside Hospital.
Local players and those from Iloilo, Antique, Capiz and Aklan have already registered and it is expected that players from different schools joining this year’s 17th Sandugo-UniGames at University of St. La Salle will increase the number of participants. UniGames will open on October 22 until October 28, 2010.

Hugpong, Volunteers United for Negros will be having its Masskara booth for the second week this coming October 19-20, 2012 in Lacson St., between the corners of 18th and 19th Streets across Starbucks.
The booth will feature products (of livelihood projects) by the group’s participating organizations for sale such as organic foods, coffees, hand-painted T-shirts and masks, recycled bags, purses, belts, and bracelets, silk-based items, taro chips and other edible items, and souvenirs.
