Int’l Speaker, Author Shawn Anderson Empowers Bacoleños to ‘Go the Extra Mile’

Six-time author and international keynote speaker Shawn Anderson has encouraged the employees of the Bacolod People’s House to “live the best versions of themselves” as part of sharing his empowering message “Fear, Failure… and Going the Extra Mile” at the Bacolod People’s House Lobby yesterday.

Anderson, who was introduced by City Administrator Atty. Rolando Villamor and accompanied by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. in a press conference earlier, described Filipinos to be “gracious, warm and giving people” and has met “amazing individuals” just by exchanging pleasantries.

His visit to the city and in the Philippines was in line with his intent in sharing the “go the extra mile” message outside of his “own comfort zone”. In a separate release, Anderson said that in order for him to share the message “around the world”, he needs to “get behind a few more international podiums”.

With books including SOAR to the TOP!, Amicus 101, and Extra Mile America: Stories of Inspiration, Possibility and Purpose, Anderson also touched on “doing, serving and giving more” to the community by engaging in public service or joining a group with a cause. In addition, he lectured that success is a process and it doesn’t come overnight and one should have “a plan and a vision” in order to achieve positive success.

Anderson is also the founder of Extra Mile America and the creator of Extra Mile Day, a celebration that recognizes the community’s capacity to create positive change when it goes the extra mile. On November 1 of last year, 527 cities lauded those in their communities who were going the extra mile in volunteerism and public service.* (CMO-PIO)
