Awards Mark End of Nutri Month
The Provincial Nutrition Committee gave out awards to the outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAO), as well as to the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI), during the 41st Nutrition Month culmination program here.

Ma. Teena Pineda, Supervising Home Management Specialist, said they are being awarded and are being given recognition for their exemplary performance in terms of their contribution to health service.
“They are our frontline workers, they go house-to-house and they weigh in our children who are nutritionally vulnerable or are extremely underweight,” she said.
The awardees for the Outstanding BNS are: fourth place, Crisca Valdez of Brgy. Masaling, Cauayan; third place Analina Verona of Brgy. Zamora, Pontevedra; second place Letecia Ternora of Brgy. 1, Hinigaran and the Provincial Outstanding Brgy. Nutrition Scholar, Christie Maghari of Brgy. Pasil, EB Magalona.
Paulette Eslafor of Cauayan, Ma. Regina Ortega of Pontevedra, Lorenz Anjao of Hinigaran and Dr. Edmundo Janeo of E.B. Magalona were given recognition as outstanding Nutrition Action Officers and Coordinators.
The Municipal Nutrition Committees of Cauayan, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, EB Magalona received the outstanding MELLPI for the municipal level.
Barangays 1, Pasil and Tabigue in EB Magalona; Zamora, Pandan and Miranda in Pontevedra; Gargato, Poblacio and Anahaw in Hinigaran; and Brgy. Masaling in Cauayan received the outstanding MELLPI for the barangay level.
Meanwhile, the awarding was followed by the turnover of food supplies for the Hunger Mitigation Program, led by Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan, Board Member Helen Zafra, Provincial Consultant Homer Bais and Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Teena Pineda.
It was held at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.
The program ended with a Nutri-Zumba Fitness Dance, which was participated by the BNS from the different municipalities of the province.* (JCM/CBA-PIA Negros Occ.)
