1,500 Delegates Expected at PCL Summit in Bacolod
Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. said yesterday that they are expecting 1, 500 member-delegates to come to Bacolod for the 2nd Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Credit Cooperative National Summit and General Assembly that will open tomorrow until August 22, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center.
Gamboa, Assembly Director and Vice Chairman for PCL Credit Cooperative, said that 80 percent of the delegates are walk-in while some signed up for pre-registration.
“We have to understand that the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) is nearing and that a lot of councilors are busy pre-paring for the May 2016 elections,” Gamboa stressed.
The incoming typhoon might also be the reason for some members not to join the summit especially those in Luzon area.
The summit will mainly focus on the PCL Credit Cooperative as an organization, Gamboa said, adding that they will eventually discuss matters pertaining to their guidelines and by-laws.
“Cooperatives play a vital role for nation building and it also contributes to our socio-economic activity by creating more jobs for our citizens,” Gamboa added.
Meanwhile, Gamboa highlighted the benefits for hosting the three-day summit which is to promote Bacolod for more conventions and national events.
“We are trying to promote the city to be the center capital of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) because we have the facilities like SMX Convention Center,” he said.
The Councilor said PCL has currently registered 6,000 members all over the country.* (CMO-PIO)
