‘VG Lacson May Bare Today His 2016 Decision’
Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson is expected to finally announce today his plans for the 2016 election.
VG Lacson, in an email sent to media covering the Provincial Capitol beat, will have a press conference at his office today.
With barely a week before the filing of candidacies start on October 12, the Vice Governor is expected to make public his plans for next year’s election.
The VG already announced previously that he will not run as governor, and may seek re-election or will not to run at all.
Lacson said the announcement of some mayors allied with his Love Negros (LN) team that they want Gov. Alfredo Marañon to finish his last term is a factor on his decision, which media people and the public expect he will make known today.
Gov. Marañon has said he will support Lacson if the latter will run as congressman in the first district to replace graduating Rep. Julio Ledesma IV.
Lacson said it will be either graduating Escalante Mayor Biboy Yap or graduating Prov’l Board Member Rene Gustilo who will be made to run as 1st district congressman.*
