SP OKs P 2.25-B Budget on 1st Reading
The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City approved on its first reading the 2018 Annual Budget of the City in the amount of P 2.. 250 Billion, during their regular session on Monday.
The said budget is P 250 Million higher compared to the previous year that is at Php 2 Billion.
Councilor Caesar Z. Distrito, Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations and Finance said that 51% of the budget is from the Internal Revenue Allotment in the amount of P 1. 145 Billion and the rest are from the local sources which includes the Real Property taxes, regulatory fees, business permits and local taxes amounting to P 1. 104 Billion.
Distrito also said that 50% of the 2018 budget is allocated for the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) amounting to P 1, 120, 024, 839, 28% for Personnel Services (P 629, 186, 522), 10% for the development fund (P 229, 055, 930), 5% for the DRRM (P 112, 500, 200), 2% for Capital outlay (P 52, 115, 200), 4% for other expenses (P 95, 117, 074).
“The budget will prioritize health services, solid waste management, social welfare services, public safety which includes peace and order, anti-drug campaign and traffic management, economic development and infrastructure, tourism, education and Bacolod City College.”, Distrito said.
“Tourism activities of the City covers the various barangay fiestas, the Tourism summit, Bacolaodiat, the Mayflower Festival, Diwali Festival, Food Festival and the three-week long MassKara Festival.”, Distrito added.
This budget also includes the 3rd tranche of the salary increase of all regular employees of the City in accordance with the Salary Standardization law.
Distrito further said that the Committee on Appropriations and Finance will conduct a Public Hearing on the proposed 2018 Budget of the City and will invite all city government departments and other agencies that are included in the proposal.*
