Three Killed in 2 Road Mishaps

Three persons lost their lives to a collision and a road crash in the cities of Bacolod and Cadiz.

In Bacolod, two persons died and another was injured when their motorcycle hit a tricycle running in the opposite direction, after overtaking a delivery van, Saturday night at Crossing Abada-Escay Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre.

Police Station 7 records identified the victims as Joebert Ortiz, 33 of Abada-Escay, and Donnie Gerasmia, 41, married of San Dionisio Subdivision in Barangay Granada, all in the city.

Both were riding in a single motorcycle driven by Fortunato Sayson, 40, when they fell from the motorcycle due to the impact.

They sustained head and body injuries and were rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but were declared dead-on-arrival.

Sayson sustained injuries but is now safe.

Delivery van driver Benjie Cabaybay told police investigators that he was on his way to Abada-Escay relocation site when he was overtaken by the motorcycle where the three were riding.

They hit part of the tricycle driven by Silverio Billones and fell to the ground where the delivery van ran over them.

Cabaybay is detained at Police Station 7.

MEANWHILE, a resident of Barangay Mabini, a hinterland barangay in Cadiz City was killed when his vehicle, an owner type jeep fell to the left side while trying to avoid water along Villena Street in Barangay Zone 2 Saturday night.

Police Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, Cadiz OIC police chief, identified the victim as Woody Delotina Desuyo, 40, married of Hacienda San Jose in Barangay Mabini in the city.

Timogin Cabayaran Gabriel, his companion in the vehicle told policemen, they came from Hacienda San Jose going to Ceres terminal when he avoided the pool of water, but due to his speed, it swerved to the right and fell on its left side where the victim was pinned by the vehicle and was hit in the head.

He was rushed to Cadiz District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.*(Cyrus M. Garde)
