‘Ang Dalangpan’ Drug Rehab Center Conducts Community Outreach

The Victorias City-based Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. (NODRFI) and its Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Center (NODRC) also known as “Ang Dalangpan|, conducted a community outreach program to highlight the Drug Abuse Consciousness Month of November.

Dr. Ernesto Palanca, head of NODRFI and NODRC or “Ang Dalangpan”, which is one of very few drug rehabilitation centers in the country accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), headed the conduct of the community outreach program at Barangay XIX-A in Victorias, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Ang Dalangpan is one of the four centers to be chosen by the United Nation Drug Control Program Colombo Plan to take part with them on drug reduction campaign.

According to Dr. Palanca, four of his staff attended the week-long training in Manila on the implementation of community outreach program sponsored by the government of Japan.

Palanca said, apart from the training, NODRC also received grant from Colombo Plan for the implementation of the community outreach program for the entire year.

Barangay XIX-A, one of the biggest barangays in Victorias, was among the first recipients of the Colombo Plan.

Henry B. Laguna, Brgy. XIX-A Punong Barangay, warmly welcomed the team of Palanca.

Lectures and reading materials about drugs, its different types, common signs of drug abuse and prevention were provided for free to the attendees, with snacks and lunch.

VICTORIAS CRIME RATE DOWN 5O %

Victorias Mayor Francis Frederick “Wantan” P. Palanca graced the event with his inspirational message.

Mayor Palanca stressed the drastic effects of drugs by citing actual scenarios and true events.

The good mayor of the sweet green city gladly announced that due to the successful anti-drug campaign, the crime rate in Victorias City went down by 50 percent.

“The community outreach program is just getting started. More barangays will be visited by the team of NODRC, Dr. Palanca, on the other hand said.

“I am inviting the parents, educators and local governments to come and visit Ang Dalangpan at Camp Gen. Aniceto Lacson Compound in Victorias City, Negros Occidental,” he said.
