‘Oplan Katok’ in Calatrava Yields Explosives & Firearm
Negros Occidental policemen’s intensified campaign against loose firearms and explosives yielded positive results, at least in the three barangays of Calatrava town in the northern part of the province, Friday.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) Director, Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castil, Jr., ordered the implementation of “Oplan Katok” to be implemented by local police stations.
As a result, the campaign in the three barangays of Calatrava - Cambayobo, Minapasok and Marcelo, yielded a rifle grenade, a grenade and an improvised firearm locally known as “sulpak”.
The Calatrava PNP under Police Chief Insp. John Joel Batusbatusan conducted information dissemination that urged and encouraged the Punong Barangays to help in its campaign against loose firearms and ammunition during the ABC Meeting of Calatrava last Nov, 7.
Thus, three barangays responded through their barangay leaders, and resulted to the deposit of a firearm and explosives at the drop box of the Calatrava police last Friday morning.*(Cyrus M. Garde)
