Present during the session were Vice Mayor Dr. Rex R. Jalando-on, Presiding Officer; SPMs Karen L. Aguirre, David T. Baga Jr., Amalia D. Aguirre, Jaime Manuel H. Mariño, Arnaldo Ledoy S. Miravalles, Jose Luis D. Jalandoni, Zaldy C. Pernito, Richard Sebastian S. Benedicto (who filed the motion), Jacob E. Liansing; and ABC President Elmar O. Aries.

The stinking smell reportedly comes from substances flowing from the plant through canals and creeks which affect the health condition of residents especially the children.

Residents living near the factory complain of the bad smell which can be harmful to their health.

This matter has been brought to the attention of Roxol Bioenergy Corporation management several times. This has also been tackled in a privilege speech by Vice Mayor Jalando-on based on the complaints of La Carlota residents to which the SP members immediately acted upon.

SPM Baga said, the unanimous resolution of support was also sent by the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) which was approved by ABC President Elmar O. Aries and Sangguniang Panlungsod members.

This will be the second time Roxol Bioenergy Corporation will be closed.

The resolution is now awaiting the signature of City Mayor Luis Jacky D. Jalandoni III for approval and enforcement.*(Jun de los Reyes)
