SP Dad Vows to Increase City’s Sports Budget
Councilor Caesar Distrito, Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations and Finance vowed to increase the appropriation for sports development from Php2.4 million to Php5 million during the budget hearing conducted recently.
“The budget for sports should be doubled in order for the City Government to support well our delegates and athletes in the Batang Pinoy, Philippine National Games or even to those who will compete in other national and international sports competitions”, Councilor Distrito said.
Distrito also said that the City will fund the Palarong Pambarangay, Palarong PamBacolod and to have year-long sports programs for the City in the field of basketball, volleyball, chess, and football.
“Bacolodnons are fond of watching sports events and it is high time for the City to allocate funds to promote such activities that do not only entertain people but also promote health, fitness and deviate the youth from drug addiction”, Distrito added.
Further, Distrito said that he will ask the support of Mayor Evelio Leonardia to materialize this.*
