Increasing awareness on teen pregnancy, empowering Talisaynon youth

About 100 participants composed of mainly teenagers from the different public schools in the city, school heads and a number of Talisay City Government employees joined in the 2-day U4U (You-for-You) Youth Hub Initiative held in the City of Talisay.

The U4U (You-for–You) Youth Hub was an initiative by the Commission on Population supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA). In its website, UNPFA is the lead agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

Today’s U4U Forum is being conducted by the peer educators of the City of Talisay who attended yesterday’s training. The U4U Youth Hub Initiative is geared towards delivering critical information to Talisaynon teenagers on how to prevent teen pregnancy and to increase their level of awareness with the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases through the different social media platforms.

On the venue are booths by the City Health Office, CPDO and City Church of Christ, Talisay were information and services which could be beneficial are readily made available for all the attendees.

On November 27, 2017, an Information Service Development Network Training to Talisay City’s Peer Educators from the different schools in the City together with the representatives from City Health and City Planning and Development Offices in the city and City Church of Christ, Talisay Chapter was conducted by Miss Lara Jeunesse Villaruel, Information Officer of the Commission on Population, Provincial Office.*(Chuck Diaz)
