The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and University of St. La Salle (USLS) Outreach Program will present “Women in Sports” on November 4-10, 2008 at USLS.

This was disclosed by Roger A. Banzuela, USLS Outreach Program chairman after a meeting with PSC Commissioner Akiko Thompson yesterday.

The women athletes will participate in beach volleyball, taekwondo and marathon.

Banzuela said the schedule of events; November 4- arrival of PSC technical officials; November 5-technical meeting; November 6-7-beach volleyball; November 8-taek-wondo; November 9- marathon for 3K, 5K and 10K and November 10- campus tour.

Banzuela added that newly appointed Commissioner Akiko Thompson is making everything possible with her concentration to all women who have potentials in different sports to excel and represent the country in international competitions. Thompson is a former swimming Olympian who represents the country in Atlanta Olympics.

Akiko tapped the USLS Outreach Program knowing fully that it has the right formula in the grassroots sports development program in the province under Banzuela.

The PSC-USLS Outreach Program “Women in Sports” is expected to lure prospective women athletes in the province.*
