Bacoleña Shines in 2017 Victoria University Student Leadership Awards

It was a proud moment for Bacolod’s very own, Cristina Poblador-Magbojos, to be recognized as one of Victoria University’s 2017 Student Leadership Awardees – winner for the International Individual Award category, last September 27, 2017 at the Footscray Community Arts Centre, Melbourne, Victoria. Currently on her 3rd semester for a Master of Business – Accounting program, she bested over 30 finalists in this annual prestigious awards and represented the Victoria University Filipino Club. Among the highlights of her recognition included her significant leadership role in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that made an impact in improving the quality of student experience in Victoria University and the wider community which included her involvements in the following:

• Victoria University Filipino Club – pioneering core member, Vice President & Marketing/Publicity

• Victoria University Vollies (volunteering group) - member

• 2017 Melbourne International Student Conference – delegate (through the invitation of the City of Melbourne)

She is the youngest daughter of the late Manuel Ledesma Poblador, Sr. and Sonia Benedicto Lizares. Cristina was a graduate of St. Scholastica’s Academy – Bacolod (Batch ’95) and the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod where she also excelled both in academics and extra-curricular involvements. With this award she hopes to bring honor to her alma mater, city and country as well as inspire fellow international students to strike a study, work & life balance and always strive for excellence. Prior to pursuing further studies in Melbourne, Australia since August 2016, her professional career included her stint with the following: The Philippine STAR/ The FREEMAN-Cebu – Account Manager/Advertising Manager, Citibank Bacolod’s Relationship Manager, SM City Bacolod’s Mall Marketing Manager, GMA TV Bacolod’s Station Head and Megaworld Premier Bacolod’s AVP. Furthermore, she was an active member of the Bacolod City Sampaguita Lions Club, WOW Ladies, Neg. Occ. Orchid Society and BCBP.
