Cousin Stabs Cousin Due to Land Conflict

Cousins stabbed one another over a land conflict in Sitio Buragwak, Barangay Manghanoy, La Castellana, Negros Occidental around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Police Chief Inspector Irma Teoxon, La Castellana PNP OIC chief identified the victim as Leo Eseller Espadera, 55, “Alias Tebor”, farmer, widow, also resident of the said addres.

He sustained multiple stab wounds in the stomach and left chest and died on the spot. He reportedly shouted for help and was heard by a witness identified as Michael Edrama who responded to the area.

Police identified the suspect as Jereny Espadera Jardeniano, 40, farmer.

He immediately fled from the crime scene towards the hilly portion of the place.

Donato Dumaguit, a local government employee reported the incident to La Castellana PNP who responded to the place.

They saw the body of the victim in a cemented road of the place.

Police investigation disclosed that the two met in a ricefield while the victim was going home. Without any provocation, the suspect stabbed the victim several times.

Police recovered from the crime scene one gas operated improvised rifle locally known as “Boga”.

Investigation revealed that victim and suspect had a misunderstanding regarding the parcel of land owned by their elders. The victim reportedly initiated in filling a complaint to the Barangay Council against the suspect but the latter rejected the invitation for settlement. *
