Ceres FC Wins Against Stallion Laguna, 1-0

Bienvenido Marañón of Ceres-Negros Football Club connected the lone goal, 1-0, to win its match against host team Stallion Laguna FC on Saturday in the ongoing Philippines Football League at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

Marañón scored in the 28th minute who got a quick look for a free-kick from Man of the Match Stephan Shrock.

Controversy shook the field in the final minutes after midfielder Dan Villarico of Stallion Laguna was down inside the box after a challenge but the referee allowed continuation of play.

The win fortified Ceres FC position in the table at No.3 with 13 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses for 42 points in 19 games while they kept the Stallion at No.6 spot. Both teams will again face each other at the Biñan pitch on Wednesday, October 25.

Ceres FC coach Risto Vidakovic lamented the refereeing in the match considering the conditions they have to play. “What can I say? We are all tired already,” added coach Vidakovic. “It happens every game. We cannot talk anymore about football. We have to talk about how to keep the players safe.”

The Busmen will fly back in Bacolod City to prepare for their match against JPV Marikina this Saturday, Oct 28.

League leader FC Meralco Manila has two wins ahead of Ceres with 48 points.* (JGToga with report from ceresfootball.com)
