Man Survives Shooting in Bais

A man escaped death after he was shot three times in Upper Aglipay Street, Barangay 1, Bais City, Negros Oriental around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Jhorim Pacure Saldonido, 27, single, of Sitio Tambacan, Barangay 1, Bais City. He sustained gunshot wounds on his right arm and elbow and was brought to Bais City District Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.

Tagged as suspect is Bienvinido Mascardo. Jr., “Alias Junmas”, of legal age, resident of Juan Luna Street, Barangay 2, Bais City. He fled after the incident.

Police investigation disclosed that the victim was invited by Poloy and Jong-Jong, (identified later as Danny Santillan Saga) Jungie and Balut in a drinking spree in front of Geag Store, Aglipay Street, Barangay 1 where the suspect was.

The group was first seen drinking at Sistine Store before they transferred to Geag Store.

Upon seeing the victim, the suspect stood up and approached the victim and pointed an unknown caliber of firearm on the suspect’s head. He pulled the trigger but it did not fire as it malfunctioned.

The suspect tried again and it went off hitting the victim on his right arm and elbow. He fired another shot but the victim managed to run and seek refuge in a nearby house.

Police said the motive of shooting is personal grudge.*(CMG)
