Ceres FC Blanks JPV, 5-0
Ceres Negros Football Club Busmen displayed top level skills as they blanked the visiting JPV Marikina FC, 5-0, over the weekend in the ongoing 2017 Philippines Football League at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The hungry Busmen controlled every inch of the Panaad pitch and broke JPV’s inside defense in 7 minutes with 3 goals from Fernando Rodriguez (3’), eventual ‘Man of the Match’ Bienvenido Marañon (5’) and Iain Ramsay (7’). JVP Dan Padernal was also surprised by the turn of events that occurred before his eyes.
But, JPV tried to push some decent plays on a counter which made Ceres FC keeper Roland Muller a little busy for some moments. However, the defensive line of Manuel Herrera Lopez, Kota Kawase, Joshua Jake Grommen and Joshua Dutosme successfully prevented JPV’s offensive attempt as Ceres FC led the half, 3-nil.
In the second half, OJ Porteria broke away from his defenders to score from a loose ball in the 49th minute inside the box off a Stephan Schrock’s attempt.
Marañon finally sealed Busmen’s 14th win in 21 outings on a breakaway in the 80th minute.
“We went out with a different mentality, a different attitude,” said Ceres FC coach Risto Vidakovic.
“We need it because we need to recover from the last two games against Stallion and for a lot of things. In Biñan, we didn’t play good in two games. One game we had a good result but both games we didn’t play good. We need to recover in football and especially the attitude from the players. I think this is the right way we have to go,” coach Vidakovic further said.
Marañon echoed the same sentiment with his coach. “We talked in the locker room about the game. This game we have to start three-hundred percent and with intensity. We start(ed) like this and five minutes its was three-zero. We want to play like this every game but sometimes I understand the people are tired because its too many games in a row. But its okay. Today we were focused to start like this and we made noise but with this intensity its more easy to win the game.”
Ceres FC will face the Davao Aguilas this Thursday, November 2 at the Panaad Stadium 7PM. Entrance is free to the grandstand and bleachers.* (JGToga with report from ceresfootball.com)
