District 3 Wins Team Event in 8th Gov Cup Boxing Final

District 3 won this year’s 8th Governor Alfredo Maranon, Jr., Boxing Championship held at Sagay City gym on Friday. The champion district is composed of boxers from municipalities of Murcia & EB Magalona, and cities of Silay, Talisay & Victorias.

District 3 won seven golds, five silvers, and eight bronze medals. District 6 (Cauayan, Hinobaan, Candoni, and the cities of Kabankalan & Sipalay) was first runner-up with six gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals; while District 4 (the cities of Bago & La Carlota, Pulupandan, Valladolid, San Enrique, and Pontevedra) were 2nd runner-up.

Rodel Gamo of Bago was adjudge the “Best Boxer” of the tournament after his win against Lorenz John Torela of Sipalay in unanimous decision in 42 kilograms of Youth/Junior Boys category. They received trophies and medals.

In individual results: Kids category, 28 kgs. - Joshua Andana of Bago won over Andrie Pescones of Victorias in split decision; in 30 kgs., Jake Carlo Castaneda of Victorias won over Rod Clint Flores of Candoni in unanimous decision; John Lloyd Concerman of Victorias won over Reynaldo Rolan of Bago in 32 kilograms in SD; John Paulo Dolorosa of Victorias on over James Parangal of Escalante City; and Janel Ina of Bago over Romer Encarnacion of Escalante in 36 kilograms.

In the school/junior boys category; Carlo Lacse of Murcia won over John Carlo Macuel of San Carlos City in 38 kilograms in SD; Mc Daniel Amiga of Bago won over Kent Perocho of Escalante in 40 kilograms in SD; Rodel Gamo (Best Boxer) of Bago won over Lorenz John Torela of Sipalay in 42 kilograms in UD; Edmund Oro of Escalante won over Ramil Patriarca of Victorias in 44 kilograms (UD); Samuel Manale of Bago City won over Eduardo Luceno of Escalante in 46 kilograms (SD); Vincent Mabida of Cauayan won over Joshua Belecina of Bago in 48 kilograms by disqualification after .48 seconds of the first round; Dan Lewie Claridad of Sipalay won over Clint Jara of Bago in 50 kilograms (SD); Nixon Anito of Sipalay won over Rudy Tamba, Jr., of La Carlota in 52 kilograms (Referee Stop Contest in the 2nd round); Sugary Montales of La Carlota won over Ricardo Pinafiel of Sipalay in 54 kilograms (RSC-1st rd).

In Youth category; Mark Gilasing of Cauayan won over Lando Agapan of Manapla in 48 kilograms (UD); Michael Adolfo of Cadiz City won over Geniel Alit of Victorias in 50 kilograms (UD); Joven De La Pena of Cadiz won over Jeremy Puig of Bago in 52 kilograms (UD); Herlan Gomez of Victorias won over Mark Alob of Cadiz in 54 kilograms (SD); Mike Angelo De la Torre of Murcia won over Mark Langido of Sipalay in 56 kilograms (RSC in 1st round); while Reymark Soledad of Victorias won over Randy Tanodra of Candoni in 60 kilograms (SD).

In elite category; Loren Aldeviera of Sagay won over Michael Sina-on of Bayawan City in 49 kilograms (UD); Crissan Paul Diacamos of Cadiz won over Danny Villafuerte of Hinobaan in 52 kilograms (UD); John Mark Tihuk of Sipalay won Jonel Delicana of Bayawan in 56 kilograms (UD); and Benny Aday of Sipalay knocked out Mark Anthony Dimataga of Victorias in the first round.
