Events: Masses Set Today to Mark Papal Visit to Bacolod City
Bells will peal at high noon and thanksgiving masses will be celebrated all day today, February 20, at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City to mark the 31st anniversary of the historic visit of Pope John Paul II to this city.
At 5:15 p.m., the Pope John Paul II National Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family will sponsor a concelebrated thanksgiving mass at the cathedral to close the Totus Tuus! Week celebrations that began last Monday (February 13).

Most Rev. Giuseppe Pinto, D.D., Apostolic Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, will arrive in Bacolod City today for the opening of the weeklong Totus Tuus Week celebration, February 13 - 24, 2012, in relation to the 31st anniversary of the visit to Bacolod City of then Pope John Paul II in February 1981.
Events: Papal Research Center to Open Next Week
The Centro Giovanni Paolo II Research Center, located at 111 Lacson St. in Bacolod, will be inaugurated February 15, Monsignor Victorino Rivas, vicar general of the Diocese of Bacolod, said.
The family of the late Antonio and Gloria Esteban will formally turn over their ancestral home to the John Paul II National Institute for Marriage and the Family for its use as a research center, Rivas, who is also director of the Institute, added.
