PNoy Orders Gov’t Agencies to Help NIR Transition

President Benigno Aquino III ordered the national agencies to help with the transition of two Visayas provinces into the Negros Island Region (NIR).

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. in a Memorandum Circular Number 81, dated August 6, Aquino directed all heads of national government agencies “to extend their full assistance in the transition to the Negros Island Region.”

The memorandum requires agency heads to:

Let me commend His Excellency President Benigno Aquino III for a perfect State of the Nation Address, wherein he not only outlined the gains of his advocacy for straight path (daang matuwid) governance but also for humanizing his sixth and final SONA by acknowledging people in and outside of government who contributed, in ways big or small, to his Presidency.

Gov Confident Mar Will Get PNoy’s Nod

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., said he is “happy and elated” that Interior Secretary Mar Roxas is on top of the list of candidates that President Benigno Aquino III will be choosing from.

“This means that if you’re leading, you will be chosen. And Sec. Mar has expressed his readiness for the job,” Marañon said.

He added, this should boost the morale of the Secretary and support for his presidential bid will snowball.

“He is the only probable presidential candidate who has no taint in his record,” the Governor pointed out.
