Greetings!
This is NDB's Golden Year 50th
CHRISTMAS PLATTER
Today, we are not going to cook anything. Instead, we shall assemble our
Christmas platter, with easily obtainable goodies . I do this every Christmas
eve LUNCHEON, which is a yearly gathering for whoever dear friends and family
like to spend some Yuletide time with the Schulzes. The stars in this platter,
are goodies and confections synonymous to the Yuletide season……that's what makes
this special! Just perfect for your “handa” for the Christmas eve Noche Buena or
your Christmas day family get together! “Dala na da ang New Year's nga mga
salo-salo”!!!
1 whole fruitcake (sliced crosswise and halved lengthwise)
1 box Turron de Jijona (just slice as this is soft-available in Bob's Deli and
Lopue's)
1 box Turron de Alicante ( hard turron, please break up in pieces, as in making
it “lampos” while still sealed in its foil wrap.
300 gms dates or dried figs (Hua Kong)
2 cups shelled walnuts
1 salchichon de Pili (optional but available w Elsie Trebol-Bais and Nenuca
Teves-Dumaguete
½ of a Queso de Bola (sliced)
1 or 2 packs of Almendras (small white sugar coated almond pieces that come out
on Christmas in Spain available in Lopue's Mandalagan)
PROCEDURE:
1.) Bring out a long forgotten Christmas motif plattar or or any tray will
do. Just cover I with a paper doily.
2.) Assemble your goodies in any order that you see fit. Just make sure each
goody is arranged together, not mixed up all over with the other confections.
VOILA!!!
TIPS:
- Should you include “castanas”, make sure that they are shelled.
- Instead of fruitcake, you might want to use buttercake squares or any cake
morsels
- Turron de Pili is a very good substitute for the “turrones” from Spain
(Felicia's, 6th St.)
- In fact, let your imagination run free. Just be sure, the Queso de Bola, nuts,
dried fruits, and morsels of cake are present.
Enjoy your Christmas Platter, Feliz Navidades y un abrazo fuerte from the Red
Hot Mama!!!
