PRO 6 Launches Smoke-Free Camp

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 launched the Smoke Free Camp at Camp Delgado, Iloilo City, yesterday, September 25, 2017, in support to the executive order from President Rodrigo Duterte banning smoking in public places and workplace. The event was witnessed by Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST) Executive Director Mr. Iñigo Garingalao, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional director led the signing of pledge of commitment, followed by all officers and personnel of the region.

PSupt. Gilbert Gorero, PRO 6 public information officer said, the personnel who wanted to stop smoking will be sent to the Regional Health Service 6 for cessation intervention program; and for the personnel violating the policy will be given citation tickets and demerits.

RD Binag’s intention is to make the regional headquarters a healthy workplace for the personnel as well as for the visitors.

The Regional Tobacco Control Network, a multi-sectoral membership organization chaired by the Department of Health-Region 6 encourages the participation of all government agencies in attaining a100% smoke free Western Visayas.

The PRO6 will participate in the Red Orchids Awards under the National Government Category in the Campaign of a smoke-free environment.*
