Wanky to Cops: Focus on Police Visibility

“Focus on police visibility, manage your personnel and they should be deployed in crime prone areas so that people could easily ask for assistance if they need help.”

Thus said Acting City Director, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) PSSupt. Jack Wanky to his staff during the conference at BCPO Conference Room over the weekend. Attended by ten Chiefs of Police in various police stations all over the city, including the theft and robbery section, he reminded them to review their strategy and intensify their efforts to arrest and put behind bars those who are into robbery and theft operations.

According to SPO1 Jared Esquilla, public information officer, BCPO, Wanky likewise directed the deployment of “INTELLEGENCIA” or Covert Patrols, and maximize the utilization of Informants or Informers based on the Barangay Information Net (BIN) Concept. That to counter perpetrators who are riding in tandem, the police will also use motorcycles manned by police operatives to run after them and to prevent/control crimes in the city.

“With our intensified efforts in our Anti-Criminality Campaign, we were able to make arrests and have filed appropriate charges against the suspects, and we want the people to know that their Police is doing their best in maintaining peace and order in Bacolod City,” Wanky emphasized.

Further, Wanky reiterated the importance of Police Community Relations (PCR) and advised the PCR Branch of BCPO to encourage community support. The police also need the cooperation of victims or complainants to do their part because in most cases they are not interested to file charges against the suspects, reason why the arrested suspects are freed and once on the loose continue their nefarious activities.

BCPO personnel who are assigned in different sections at the headquarters are required to perform Patrol Duties to beef up its current strength on the streets so that the Police will be visible. They render a two-hour patrol duties in the morning and afternoon and are being deployed in strategic areas in the city in connection with BCPO’s “OPLAN BAKBAK ALPHA”.*
