Councilor Wilson “Jun” Gamboa Jr. led the opening ceremonies of BAWAW at SM City Bacolod yesterday morning. After that, they opened a photo exhibit at the 2nd Level of North Wing in the same mall. The exhibit will run until Oct. 4.
In the afternoon, the City Veterinary Office spearheaded a Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination at the Annex Building of the Bacolod City Government Center. This is also in observance of World Rabies Day.
The BAWAW is in partnership with Community Animal Rescue Efforts or CARE-Bacolod.
“This is the first but definitely not the last celebration and hopefully, will continue for many years to come,” Gamboa said in his message at the BAWAW opening ceremonies.
Gamboa is the main proponent of the ordinance setting the dates from the 28th of September to 4th of October as Bacolod Animal Welfare Awareness Week. Councilors Bartolome Orola and Sonya Verdeflor served as co-proponents.
Today [Friday], the organizers will inaugurate the CARE Clinic Center located at Purok Kametal in Barangay Mandalagan, through a motorcade that starts at the Bacolod City Government Center at 8 a.m.
On Sunday [Oct. 1], they will have Dine with the PAWS at Vikings at SM City Bacolod, and on Oct. 4, they will celebrate the St. Francis of Assisi World Animal Day.*(City PIO)
