2 Killed, 4 hurt in collision

Two persons were killed and four others injured after a tricycle collided with a truck loaded with fishes in the national highway of Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City around 7 a.m. yesterday.

Police Superintendent Rhea Santos, Kabankalan PNP chief identified the victims as Cecelia PiancoVillaruel, 35, and 4 years old Blessed Lines Santillana, all of Barangay Taloc, Bago City. They sustained head and body injuries when their tricycle collided with the truck.

PCOO holds PCO Net NegOcc leg

St. John’s Institute to bring fight to the Vatican

Officials of beleaguered St. John’s Institute (SJI) popularly known in Bacolod City as Hua Ming, saw a ray of hope in their cause after the president of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) wrote Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon favoring the school.

“After studying our letter to them, its president Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ and Fr. Adolfo Dacanay their canon lawyer, wrote the bishop (Buzon) that the school has no fault that stripped us of our status as a Catholic school,” Benjamin Lopue, SJI president said.

14 suspects nabbed in ‘pot session’

Fourteen drug suspects were arrested by San Carlos City PNP around 5:15 p.m. Sunday at San Juan Baybay, Barangay 6, San Carlos.

Police Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, San Carlos police chief identified the suspects as Jose Marabe Palabrica, 54, widow, carpenter, of San Juan Baybay, Brgy. 6; Peter Rovir Bargo Zapanta, 29, married, of V. Gustilo Street, Brgy. 3; Ryan Campo Guillen 33, married, tricycle driver, of Ylagan Street, Brgy. 6; Jayban Ciano Rosalejos, 21, single of San Juan Baybay, Brgy. 6; Nino Kim Fernandez Bartulin, 32, single, of San Juan Baybay, Brgy. 6;

Bacolod cop shot dead

A policeman assigned at Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 5 (Granada) was shot dead, while another one was wounded, late Saturday afternoon at Canonoy Beach Resort in Barangay Gargato in Hinigaran.

Killed was PO2 Britches “Monggol” Lapus Talapiero, 36, member of the PNP Class “Masikap” assigned at BCPO, a resident of Stone Heaven Subdivision in Barangay Granada, Bacolod.

Talapiero sustained a gunshot wound on his back. He was rushed to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Jansen Vergara.
