Negros Oriental News: Negros Oriental Guv Hit for Photo on Relief Goods
Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo was flooded with criticisms yesterday for allegedly putting his photo and name on plastic bags containing foods that are being distributed to quake victims in his province.
Many of the criticisms were posted on social networking site Facebook, wherein the photo of a plastic bag of rice had a picture of Degamo.
Local News: Rescue, Retrieval, Relief Operations in Negros Oriental Slowing Down
The search and rescue, retrieval, and relief operations in quake-hit areas of Negros Oriental slowed down yesterday as various groups helping the operations became exhausted, their equipment running out of batteries and the situation was worsened by impassable roads and heavy rains.
Local News: 400 Soldiers, Reservists, CAFGUs, Lead Retrieval Ops in Oriental Negros
Col. Francisco Patrimonio, commanding officer, 302nd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army has dispatched 400 soldiers, CAFGUs and reservists from the 11th Infantry Battalion, 79th Infantry Battalion, 32nd Reconnaissance Company, CAFGUs from 12th Infantry Battalion and Reservist personnel from 1st Negros Oriental Ready Reserve Battalion of 703rd Community Defense Center to conduct the search, rescue and retrieval operations in different places of Negros Oriental affected by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the province at around 11:45 a.m., Monday.
Local News: Bacolod City Sends Support to Guihulngan
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has committed to extend help to the earthquake victims in Negros Oriental. He sent yesterday a firetruck with ten personnel and relief goods to Mayor Ernesto Reyes of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental. The group was headed by Bacolod City Fire Marshal Chief Insp. Pamela Rojane Candido.
Leonardia also reactivated the Bacolod Cares Program of the Bacolod City Risk Reduction and Management Office that also sent donations to the victims of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan, Iligan and Dumaguete Cities.

Apparently, even the happy mood that is expected on his birthday yesterday could not prevent President Aquino from being irritated by SMS (short message service or “text”) circulating in Negros Oriental that there will be a tsunami coming ahead, after Monday’s 6.9 magnitude quake.

Local News: Negros Occidental to Give P500K to Oriental Negros
The Negros Occidental provincial government will give P500,000 to its twin province Negros Oriental as cash assistance to its towns and cities devastated by a magnitude 6.9 quake that struck the island Monday.

Cebu likewise was hit with the same quake magnitude and aerial shot of people in an “Exodus” proportion was posted in You Tube.
Local News: 6.9-Quake Hits Negros Island; Death Toll Rises, Several Missing
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Negros Island at 11:49 a.m. yesterday, with its shock waves reverberating through other islands in the Visayas, and killing more than a dozen people and many more missing, authorities said.
The quake, with its epicenter off the waters of Tayasan town in Negros Oriental with a depth of 10 kilometers, also damaged at its height the neighboring province of Negros Occidental, and neighboring islands Panay, Guimaras, and Cebu.
PVF Volleyball Referees Congress Moved Earlier
The Philippine Volleyball Federation Referees Congress to be hosted by University of St. La Salle-Varsity Sports Office, SHARE is moved earlier on February 3 to 5, 2012 instead of Feb. 24, 25, and 26 at USLS, Bacolod City.
The resetting of schedule earlier than its first schedule was due to unavailability of the congress evaluators who had a conflict in schedule, according to former PVF President Roger A. Banzuela.
The congress is supposed to coincide with the holding of annual Park Volleyball Festival at USLS on Feb. 25.
USLS-VSO SHARE to Host PVF Volleyball Referees Congress
The University of St. La Salle-Varsity Sports Office, SHARE will play host once again for the Philippine Volleyball Federation Referees Congress on February 24, 25 and 26, 2012 at USLS in Bacolod City.
The congress will be held on the said dates to coincide with the holding of the annual Park Volley Festival. This congress is being held every two years as per requirement of the world governing body of volleyball, the FIVB.
